Whispers of the 13th Century

Carved from deep black basalt in the Hemadpanti style, Anandeshwar Temple is believed to date to the 13th century. Recognised by the Archaeological Survey of India as a Monument of National Importance, it stands as a testament to centuries of unbroken devotion on the banks of the sacred Purna River.

Yadava Dynasty Legacy

Foundations of Faith and Stone

The Anandeshwar Temple, a marvel of Hemadpanti architecture, was meticulously constructed in the 13th century. Its creation is attributed to the powerful Yadava dynasty, known for their significant patronage of arts and religious structures across the Deccan region. This era marked a flourishing period for temple building, with distinctive styles emerging that blended local traditions with sophisticated engineering.

The choice of black basalt, sourced from nearby quarries, speaks to both the aesthetic preference and the geological abundance of the region. The mortarless construction technique, characteristic of Hemadpanti temples, showcases an advanced understanding of interlocking stone structures, ensuring the temple's resilience through centuries on the Purna River's banks.
